A lovely antique pine blanket box / storage chest, with a beautifully simple traditional design and plenty of genuine age and character.
 
Constructed from solid pine, the chest features particularly attractive large exposed dovetail joints to the corners, a gently rounded top and a traditional iron ring handle to the front.
 
The lid opens to reveal a spacious interior, complete with a small internal compartment, traditionally found in old blanket and storage chests for keeping smaller items separate.
 
As you would expect from an antique piece, it has various marks, knocks, scratches, old repairs and signs of wear throughout. There are some small remnants of old paint or filler in places, particularly around the lower edges and wear to the cornice around the bottom, particularly at the corners.
 
The lock is present, although no key is supplied.
 
A wonderfully characterful and very useful old pine chest, offering a generous amount of storage. Ideal as a blanket box, bedding chest, toy chest or general storage trunk, while also making an attractive piece of furniture in its own right.
