A charming antique captain's armchair with a wonderfully aged appearance and lots of genuine character.
 
The chair features a shaped solid seat surrounded by a sweeping curved arm and back rail, with an attractive arrangement of traditional turned spindles. A shaped backrest sits above, while the chair is raised on turned legs with stretcher supports beneath.
 
It has developed a lovely dark, time-worn patina, with considerable variation in the colour and finish of the timber. The wear is particularly attractive around the seat, arms and turned details and gives the chair a wonderfully rustic country-house appearance.
 
A characterful piece that would work particularly well as an occasional chair, desk chair or decorative country interior piece.
